urinary tumor necrosis factor-alpha a good indicator for inflammatory response in pyelonephritis

چکیده
background tnf-α is one of the most potent cytokines in proinflammatory reactions. results one hundred and twenty children with acute pyelonephritis were evaluated. urinary tnf-α/cr was 0.0051 ± 0.00083 pg/g creatinine. the authors found out a significant difference in urinary tnf-α/cr between patients who have normal and abnormal levels of urine leukocytes, urine protein, urine culture, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and c- reactive protein. this study revealed a significant correlation between urinary tnf-alpha and urine wbc (r = 0.36, p value = 0.02), esr (r = 0.75, p value = 0.03) and crp (r = 0.58, p value = 0.02). patients and methods this cross sectional study, was performed on children with acute pyelonephritis. fresh random urine samples were obtained before treatment of pyelonephritis. urine samples were tested for tnf-α and creatinine. we also evaluated our patients with routine biochemical studies. objectives this article contributes to evaluate the correlation between urinary tnf-α and inflammatory response markers in children with acute pyelonephritis. conclusions we concluded that urinary tnf-α/cr might be a good indicator for inflammatory response in children with acute pyelonephritis.

Increased Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha Expression as an Inflammatory Response Indicator and a Cancer Risk in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
Background: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a pro-inflammatory condition that supports the development of metabolic aberration and ovarian dysfunction. Chronic inflammation and the increased levels of androgens in this group of patients and their impact on the immune system may increase the risk of developing malignancies, including ovarian cancer. Thus, we interacted ovarian tumor cells ...
متن کاملDiagnostic potential of urinary tumor necrosis factor-alpha in children with acute pyelonephritis.
INTRODUCTION Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) is an important mediator of the inflammatory response in serious bacterial infections. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of urinary TNF-alpha for diagnosis of acute pyelonephritis in children. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study was conducted from March 2006 to December 2007 on children with confirmed diagnosis of acute pyelo...
متن کاملEvaluation of Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha Polymorphism Frequencies in Endometriosis
Background The pro-inflammatory cytokine, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), is a pathogenic element for a number of disorders. Previous studies have reported that the -1031 T/C and -238 G/A polymorphisms in the promoter region of the TNF-α gene are important factors in reproductive-related disorders. One of the most common gynecological diseases of women during the reproductive years is endo...
متن کاملLocal role for tumor necrosis factor alpha in the pulmonary inflammatory response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.
The local intrapulmonary role of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) in a protective host response during acute and chronic infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis is incompletely understood. To directly assess its role in the intrapulmonary immune response, we compared the responses of transgenic mice with a local pulmonary blockade of TNF-alpha (SPCTNFRIIFc mice) to mice with globally i...
متن کاملEvaluation of relationship between the level of inflammatory cytokines Interleukin-10 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha with virologic response to treatment in patients with HIV
Background: Despite the considerable advances in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) treatment and management, finding the cure for this disease has been hindered by emerging challenges such as virus resistance and treatment failures. The purpose of this study is to compare the cytokine profiles of patients with successful treatment and patients with unsuccessful treatment to gain a bette...
متن کاملTriglyceride-rich lipoproteins prime aortic endothelium for an enhanced inflammatory response to tumor necrosis factor-alpha.
High levels of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TGRLs) in blood are linked to development of atherosclerosis, yet the mechanisms by which these particles initiate inflammation of endothelium are unknown. TGRL isolated from human plasma during the postprandial state was examined for its capacity to bind to cultured human aortic endothelial cells (HAECs) and alter the acute inflammatory response t...
